Siemens: automatic and sustainable trains thanks to AI

(CercleFinance.com) - Together with 16 partners, Siemens has announced the launch of the "safe.


trAIn", an initiative funded by the German government to the tune of 23 million euros, which aims to lay the foundations for the safe use of artificial intelligence (AI) for driverless operation of rail vehicles.

Solutions to meet the requirements of this highly regulated and standardised environment have the potential to significantly improve the efficiency and sustainability of regional rail transport, Siemens said.

Germany also believes that passenger rail services need to be made more attractive if it is to achieve its environmental goals of reducing its CO2 emissions by 40 to 42% by 2030 compared to 1990 levels.
