Aegon: legal transfer to Bermuda approved at EGM

(CercleFinance.com) - Aegon says that its Extraordinary General Meeting has approved its plan to move its legal domicile to the British colony of Bermuda, paving the way for the project announced at the end of June to go ahead.

Bermuda's regulatory regime is well recognised, having been granted equivalent status by the EU under the Solvency II regime and by the UK under its own Solvency UK regime, Aegon said.

Following this transfer, which is due to be implemented tomorrow, Aegon will no longer have a regulated insurance entity in the Netherlands. Its supervision will be transferred from the Dutch Central Bank to the Bermuda Monetary Authority.
