Walmart: to hire 10,000 in Canada
(CercleFinance.com) - Walmart is hiring 10,000 additional employees in Canada, as its business in the country keeps on growing, the US retail giant said on Friday.
The hiring plan follows the announcement of a 3.5 billion dollar investment in Canada over the next five years to generate growth by making online and in-store shopping faster and more convenient, the retailer said.
Walmart Canada said it plans to hire e-commerce store associates - who pick items for online orders - and fresh food associates, who work in bakery, meat, and dairy, but also cashiers, warehouse workers and drivers.
Walmart operates more than 400 stores in Canada, serving more than 1.5 million customers per day. It currently has more than 90,000 employees in the country, which makes it one of Canada's largest employers.
