Visa: invests in Japanese fintech firm Paidy

(CercleFinance.com) - Visa has invested in the Japanese fintech firm Paidy through the purchase of shares, as the US financial services company seeks to develop new payment methods beyond plastic cards.

Paidy's 1.5 million customers purchase products online using a mobile phone number and email address and settle all their purchases in a single monthly bill.

Both companies plan to partner on other digital payment products that will give Japanese consumers more options when buying online and in-store.

The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
