Verizon: to launch 5G home service in October
(CercleFinance.com) - Verizon will launch the world's first commercial 5G broadband internet service on 1 October, the largest US carrier said late on Tuesday.
Verizon 5G Home customers should expect typical network speeds of around 300 Mbps and, depending on the location, peak speeds of nearly 1 Gig, supporting for both 4K and High Dynamic Range (HDR) technologies, it said.
Verizon said 5G home customers will also get YouTube TV free for the first three months ($40/month thereafter) and a free Apple 4K TV or Google Chromecast Ultra device on installation.
Verizon is also expected to be the first group to offer a 5G mobile service in early 2019.
