3M: plans to import more respirators into US

5 million respirators over the next three months to help deliver supplies to healthcare workers in the United States, the US conglomerate said on Tuesday.
The group said that it will import these respirators over the next three months primarily from its plant in China, as from this month.
These imports will supplement the 35 million N95 respirators it currently produces per month in the United States, with the group expecting to reach a rate of 50 million per month in June.
Central to a controversy surrounding the supply of protective equipment over the past few days, 3M said it also plans to continue sending US produced respirators to Canada and Latin America, where it is the primary supplier.
