3M: buys healthcare artificial intelligence firm
(CercleFinance.com) - 3M said on Wednesday that it has bought parts of a Pittsburgh-based company that provides artificial intelligence (AI) systems to the healthcare sector for a total enterprise value of 1 billion dollars.
M*Modal's remaining transcription, scribing and coding services business is not part of the transaction, the US conglomerate said in a statement.
The transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2019. Approximately 750 employees supporting the technology business of M*Modal are expected to join 3M upon its completion.
