P&G: completes acquisition of Merck's consumer health unit
(CercleFinance.com) - Procter & Gamble said on Monday that it has completed the purchase of Germany's Merck's consumer health business, gaining access to brands such as the food supplements Bion3 and vitamin specialist Seven Seas.
This move improves P&G's geographic scope, brand portfolio and category footprint in the vast majority of its top 15 over-the-counter markets, it said in a news release.
With this acquisition, Merck's consumer health unit's former CEO, Uta Kemmerich-Keil, will join P&G as leader of P&G Personal Healthcare International, a business including the newly combined consumer health care businesses in Europe, Latin America, and Asia.
