Pfizer: third-quarter profit rises - above estimates

(CercleFinance.com) - Pfizer reported higher third-quarter profit as the US drugmaker completed its consumer healthcare joint venture deal with GSK.


The New York-based company posted net profit of 7.68 billion dollars, compared with a profit of 4.11 billion dollars a year ago.

Excluding extraordinary items, Pfizer earned 4.21 billion dollars, or 75 cents per share, from 4.58 billion dollars, or 77 cents a share, in the same period a year ago.

The world's biggest drugmaker saw its sales declined 5% to 12.7 billion dollars, but biopharma revenues jumped by 9% to 10.1 billion dollars.

Pfizer updated its full-year forecast, now expecting adjusted earnings of 2.94 dollars to 3 dollars per share, up from its previous view of 2.76 dollars to 2.86 dollars per share.
