Intel: collaborates with VMware in 5G
(CercleFinance.com) - Intel, the world's largest semiconductor manufacturer, said on Wednesday that it will collaborate with VMware, a cloud specialist, on 5G technologies.
In a joint statement, both groups said that they will jointly develop an integrated software platform for virtualizing RAN functions, with the aim of accelerating both LTE and 5G network deployments.
VMware and Intel say that the German operator Deutsche Telekom is currently testing a vRAN architecture that they have designed.
