GE: a new era for high-pressure turbines

(CercleFinance.com) - Safran today announced that CFM (a 50/50 joint company between Safran Aircraft Engines and GE) has launched a higher-performance high-pressure turbine blade designed to increase the durability of CFM56-5B and CFM56-7B engines.


Improvements include increased wall thickness, optimised dovetail loading and tighter manufacturing tolerances.

Management says that this new version of the CFM56-5B/-7B HP turbine blades is designed to keep clients flying with OEM parts they know and trust.

The new turbine blades are produced in Greenville, South Carolina. Safran says that the CFM56-5B and -7B have a world-class reliability rating of 99.98%.
