Ford: recalls Super Duty trucks due to fire risk
(CercleFinance.com) - Ford is recalling over 500,000 Super Duty SuperCrew pickup trucks in North America due to the risk of a postcrash interior fire with the carpet flooring of the vehicles, the US carmaker said.
In some cases, a front seat belt pretensioner that deploys during a crash could generate excessive sparks, igniting the carpet, the company said.
Ford is aware of one report in the US of a fire related to this condition.
In the US, the 490,574 trucks produced from 2015 to 2019 are being recalled, along with 56,112 in Canada and 852 in Mexico.
