Ford:European sales up 1.7 percent in July

(CercleFinance.com) - Ford increased European car sales by 1.
7% in July, mainly benefiting from strong demand for its SUV, the company said on Wednesday.

Deliveries in the so-called "Euro 20 markets" increased to 101,800 autos last month, from 100,100 a year earlier, Ford Europe said today.

Nevertheless, Ford's total market share in the Euro 20 markets slipped by 0.4 point to 7% in July.

The US carmaker said Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) sales grew by over 31% in July, with new sales records set by the EcoSport and Kuga models.

SUVs now represent over one in five Ford vehicles sold in Europe, Ford said.
