ExxonMobil: in talks to acquire Pioneer
(CercleFinance.com) - ExxonMobil is in negotiations to acquire US shale giant Pioneer Natural, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The acquisition could be worth around $60bn, the Wall Street Journal says. This would be Exxon's biggest deal since its merger with Mobil in 1999, the Journal points out.
The agreement for this acquisition could be signed in the next few days, although it could also be abandoned, the WSJ adds, saying that it would give the group a strong position in West Texas and New Mexico.
