Disney: distribution agreement with Charter
(CercleFinance.com) - Disney announced on Thursday that it has entered into a distribution agreement with Charter Communications, letting subscribers to the cable operator's Spectrum television service to continue to access its channels, including ABC, ESPN and National Geographic.
The agreement - which includes about 20 channels, including half a dozen newly acquired from Fox - includes Disney Channel, FX and Fox Life.
The agreement also provides for the broadcasting, as from next week, of the non-stop sports channel ACC.
The partnership is also considering the prospect of Charter distributing Disney's on-demand video services, such as Hulu and ESPN+, in addition to offering its forthcoming Disney+ streaming platform.
