Cisco: buys supplier Acacia for 2.6 billion dollars

(CercleFinance.com) - Cisco is buying its supplier Acacia Communications for approximately 2.
6 billion dollars, in a deal that will boost the company's switching, routing and optical networking portfolio.

Under the terms of the agreement, the San Jose, California-based company has agreed to acquire Acacia for 70 dollars per share in cash. By comparison, Acacia shares traded at 48.1 dollars at yesterday's close.

Acacia makes digital signal processing, photonic integrated circuit modules, and transceivers for use in networking products and data centres.

"With the explosion of bandwidth in the multi-cloud era, optical interconnect technologies are becoming increasingly strategic", Cisco said in a statement.
