Boeing: successful long-range precision firing test
(CercleFinance.com) - Boeing announces that one of its teams, in partnership with Norway's Nammo, has set a new record for the indirect firing distance of a ramjet-equipped artillery projectile.
During the test, the partners fired an active rocket projectile - a Ramjet 155 - from a 58-caliber Extended Range Artillery Cannon (ERCA) at the Yuma Proving Ground range in Arizona.
This project is part of the development of long-range precision firing, one of the Army's major modernization projects.
Ramjet technology heralds a revolution in artillery, dramatically extending range and offering strategic advantages to users, it said.
