Boeing: to open R&D center for autonomous aircraft
(CercleFinance.com) - Boeing will open a research and development center near the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), which will focus on innovative aerospace technologies and autonomous systems, the company said on Wednesday.
Under the agreement, the new Boeing Aerospace & Autonomy Center will have 100,000 square feet of research and lab space inside a new 17-storey building in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
The new center will house employees from Boeing and subsidiary Aurora Flight Sciences, focusing on designing, building and flying autonomous aircraft and developing enabling technologies.
The investment in the new center follows the recent creation of Boeing NeXt, a new organization dedicated to the future of travel and transport.
