Apple: could launch connected credit card this year

(CercleFinance.com) - "There's more in the making," said the last invitation to a keynote launched by Apple last October.

Although the company took advantage of the event to present a new iPad Pro - not really a surprise given the life cycle of the brand's devices - the group may be preparing a brand new product.

Indeed, according to the Wall Street Journal, Apple is actively collaborating with the US investment bank Goldman Sachs, to launch its own credit card by the end of the year. For this, Apple would rely on Goldman Sachs group's online banking service, Marcus. This card would be compatible with the Wallet and Apple Pay services, which can store cards in the iPhone and make contactless payments at any merchant which has a suitable terminal. A cash-back system, of around 2% of the total purchase price, would be offered in partner stores.

Again according to the Wall Street Journal, the first cards could soon be tested by Apple employees before a commercial launch later this year.
