Amazon: record year for Amazon Prime Video in 2017
(CercleFinance.com) - Amazon Prime Video had a record year as a global streaming service in 2017, the e-commerce giant said in a statement Tuesday.
While not disclosing specific numbers, Amazon said auto show The Grand Tour and TV series Sneaky Pete were the most streamed original content on the platform last year.
Amazon - whose shares rose by 58% in 2017 - said 30 December was the biggest day for streaming.
Overall, the Seattle-based company said over 5 billion items were shipped with its subscription-based Prime service in 2017.
