Alphabet: Google plans to invest massively in India
(CercleFinance.com) - Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google and its parent company Alphabet, announced on Monday that the US digital giant plans to invest no less than 10 billion dollars in India over the next five to seven years.
The initiative - which will take the form of a "Google for India Digitization Fund" - will include equity investments in local start-ups, partnerships and investments in infrastructure and ecosystems, he explained.
He added that the appearance of low-priced smartphones, coupled with cheap access to data and world class telecom infrastructures has paved the way for new opportunities.
