Alphabet: Google to rename AdWords, DoubleClick businesses

(CercleFinance.com) - Nearly 18 years after launching AdWords, Alphabet's Google said it is changing the name of its advertising unit to Google Ads to better reflect its business.

"The new Google Ads brand represents the full range of advertising capabilities we offer today on Google.com and across our other properties," the group said, citing mobile, YouTube, Google Maps, along with the Google Play app store.

Google also plans to unify its DoubleClick advertiser program and the Google Analytics 360 Suite under a new, single brand, called "Google Marketing Platform."

In addition, the group expects to bring together DoubleClick for Publishers and DoubleClick Ad Exchange in a unified programmatic platform, under a new name - Google Ad Manager.

Google said that these new brands will be unveiled over the next month.
