AT&T: divests businesses in Puerto Rico
(CercleFinance.com) - AT&T announces that it plans to divest its mobile and fixed telephony operations in Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands to Liberty Latin America for 1.
95 billion dollars in cash at closing, subject to customary adjustments.
The transaction includes network assets (including spectrum), real estate, a customer base (including approximately 1.1 million mobile subscribers) and contracts. Approximately 1,300 employees will be transferred to Liberty Latin America.
The transaction brings the group's total monetization efforts announced or completed this year to over 11 billion dollars. Subjet to FCC and Department of Justice reviews, the deal is expected to be completed in six to nine months.
