AT&T: strategic alliance with Brookfield
(CercleFinance.com) - AT&T has announced a new strategic alliance with Brookfield Infrastructure and its institutional partners, whereby the telecom operator will transfer its data center and colocation activities and assets to Brookfield.
Under the ownership of Brookfield, the businesses in question will continue to provide colocation services to customers in 31 Internet data centers, of which 18 are in the US and 13 in other countries.
Under the terms of the agreement, AT&T will receive 1.1 billion dollars, which it will use to reduce its debt. The transaction remains subject to customary conditions, including regulatory approvals, and is expected to be closed in the next six to eight months.
