AT&T: to acquire Vyatta network to boost cloud business.
(CercleFinance.com) - AT&T said on Friday it will buy the Vyatta network operating system and associated assets of Brocade Communications Systems in order to boost its cloud business.
The US telecoms firm said the Vyatta platform will help to drive its network transformation, expecting to virtualize and software-control 75% of the network by 2020, compared to 55% by the end of 2017.
AT&T also intends to hire certain Brocade employees associated with this business.
The deal - for which the financial terms have not been disclosed - is expected to be closed in early summer.
