Ericsson: wins KPN deal ahead of 5G launch
(CercleFinance.com) - Ericsson has signed a deal to provide Dutch communications service provider KPN with equipment and services ahead of the roll-out of 5G technology, the Swedish mobile network gear maker said on Thursday.
Under the five-year agreement, Ericsson will deploy 5G software with full support services, including a systems integration program with support services.
Ericsson said it will deliver a "significant" upgrade to KPN's existing 2G/3G/4G technology, allowing the carrier to deploy its first standalone 5G network.
The deal also includes Internet of Things (IoT) applications, such as smart transport and ultra-low-latency gaming, the company said, without providing financial details.
