Equinor: Norwegian Sea well successfully drilled
(CercleFinance.com) - Equinor and its partners said an appraisal well in the Norwegian Sea has been successfully drilled, more than doubling the remaining oil reserves to be produced through the field it belongs to.
The Norwegian oil firm said the so-called "Cape Vulture" well, which was discovered in 2017, has a confirmed volume potential of 50-70 million recoverable barrels of oil.
The discovery more than doubles the remaining oil reserves to be produced through the Norne field, Equinor said.
Originally planned to be shut down in 2014, the Norne field has now been extended to 2036, it added.
