Statoil: already reaches 2020 target in terms of CO2.

(CercleFinance.com) - The Norwegian state major Statoil has announced that it has achieved its targets in terms of CO2 reduction two years ahead of schedule.

In detail, in 2015, the hydrocarbon producer set a target of reducing CO2 emissions from its deposits in the Norwegian continental shelf by 1.2 million tonnes per year between 2008 and 2020. On a yearly basis, this is equivalent the discharge of 600,000 passenger cars.

However, the group has already achieved this target. To do this, Statoil has implemented 228 measures, for example relating to gas flaring, production processes, or even compressors and gas turbines. The group is therefore confident about its targets through to 2030, which aim to further reduce CO2 emissions by two million tonnes.
