Stellantis: new battery plant in Indiana
(CercleFinance.com) - Stellantis and Samsung SDI announce that Kokomo, in the US state of Indiana, will be the site of a second battery production plant in the US as part of their StarPlus Energy joint venture.
Set to come on stream in early 2027, the new plant will have an annual production capacity of 34 GWh. The joint venture plans to invest over $3.2bn in the project and create 1,400 new jobs in and around Kokomo.
This will be the second StarPlus Energy gigafactory to be located in Kokomo: construction of the first StarPlus Energy gigafactory has already begun, with start-up scheduled for early 2025 and an annual production capacity of 33 GWh.
