Airbus: end to Eurofighter investigation in Austria
(CercleFinance.com) - Airbus has announced that the Prosecutor of Munich has decided to close to the Eurofighter investigation in Austria.
Indeed, the public prosecutor of Munich has now closed its investigation into the sale of Eurofighter aircraft to Austria in 2003. This investigation, which has been ongoing since 2012, has failed to confirm allegations of corruption.
Closing the investigation, the public prosecutor of Munich issued an administrative penalty against Airbus Defence and Space GmbH amounting to 81.25 million euros, including an administrative fine of 250,000 euros and the return of 81 million euros. Airbus Defence and Space GmbH accepted this ruling, not appealing against it.
The decision explicitly acknowledges the major efforts that have been made by Airbus and its management since 2012. Since the investigation began, Airbus has announced that it has fully cooperated with the public prosecutor.
