KPN: earnings rise despite decreasing revenue.

(CercleFinance.com) - KPN, the Dutch telecommunications company, reported higher second quarter earnings on Wednesday, despite a slight fall in its revenue.

Revenue fell 2.7 per cent to 1.63 billion euros from the same period a year ago, while adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation, or EBITDA, rose 1.4 per cent to 587 million euros.

Net profit increased by 18% year-on-year to 191 million euros in the second quarter.

The company said this morning that its operating expenses in the Netherlands fell to 858 million euros in the past quarter, compared to 899 million euros one year ago.

Capital expenditures (Capex) also shrank, decreasing by 24% to 238 million euros in the quarter.

In terms of outlook for 2017, KPN said adjusted EBITDA was expected to be in line with 2016.
