SES: five-year contract with the Pentagon
(CercleFinance.com) - SES announced on Friday that its subsidiary SES Space & Defense has been awarded a five-year contract by the US Department of Defense to provide Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite services.
The Luxembourg-based operator said it was one of 16 contractors selected by the Pentagon for a total order estimated at nearly $900m.
SES says that it already belongs to the Comsatcom program, which facilitates the purchase of capacity and services between the US government and commercial satellite operators.
