Eni: discusses projects with authorities in Côte d'Ivoire
(CercleFinance.com) - Eni has announced that, at the weekend a meeting between its CEO, Claudio Descalzi, and the Ivorian president Alassane Ouattara enabled the company to discuss its development projects in the country, particularly after the discovery of a huge offshore deposit, known as Whale 1-X.
Estimated at two billion barrels of oil and 2,400 billion cubic feet of associated gas, Baleine 1-X will contribute to the production of electricity in Côte d'Ivoire.
Both parties discussed a net zero development project, complementing oil and gas with renewable energy and other decarbonisation initiatives such as UN REDD+ programs for the protection of primary forests and biodiversity.
They also discussed measures to facilitate the participation of local people and businesses in Eni's industrial activities.
