Generali: first-half net profit up more than 8%
(CercleFinance.com) - Italian insurer Generali reported an 8.
8% rise in first-half net profit to 1.3 billion euros, thanks to disposals and a strong performance at its life business, it said on Wednesday.
Europe's third biggest insurer said its operating result rose 2.7% to 2.5 billion euros, also driven by its property and casualty (P&C) business.
In the life segment, operating income rose by 2.9% to 1.55 billion euros, with premiums increasing by 8.6%, thanks to the development of savings and pension products (+9.1%).
The group also confirmed that it expected premium income in the P&C segment to rise in 2018.
A new strategic plan for the three years 2019-2021 will now be presented at the group's Investor Day on 21 November in Milan.
The shares were trading down almost 1% at 15 euros in Milan after these numbers.
