Shell: with Ida behind it, Olympus platform restarts

(CercleFinance.com) - After over a month of shutdown due to Hurricane Ida, Shell yesterday announced that production has resumed at its Olympus oil platform in the Gulf of Mexico.

After a number of repairs to the facility, production has been safely and successfully restarted, the energy group said in a statement.

However, note that the two other platforms in the area, Mars and Ursa, remain closed.

While some of its operations have resumed, the Shell Norco Manufacturing Complex refinery on the banks of the Mississippi River also remains shut down due to the detection of very light levels of oil at the site.

The unit is expected to return to normal operations between mid-October and mid-November, Shell said.
