AstraZeneca: $425m agreement to settle lawsuits
(CercleFinance.com) - AstraZeneca announces that it has entered into agreements to settle liability litigation concerning its Nexium and Prilosec products, previously heard by the District Court of New Jersey, the Superior Court of Delaware and the Superior Court of New Jersey.
Although the details and terms of the agreements remain confidential, the laboratory has said that a payment of $425m will be made, with this sum having been provisioned in advance.
AstraZeneca maintains that the claims made remain "without merit", and that the agreement above all avoids costly legal fees and allows the company to move forward.
The company adds that just one case remains to be heard by the Middle District Court of Louisiana. The trial in this case is scheduled for 15 April 2024.
