AstraZeneca: FDA approves leukemia drug
(CercleFinance.com) - The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved AstraZeneca's drug Calquence for patients with chronic lymphocytic leukaemia, or small lymphocytic lymphoma.
The approval is based on positive results from two Phase III clinical trials that showed that Calquence reduced the relative risk of disease progression or death versus the comparator arms, the drugmaker said.
With over 20,000 new cases expected this year in the US alone, chronic lymphocytic leukaemia is one of the most common types of adult leukaemia.
