BP: UK public charging network thriving, group says
(CercleFinance.com) - BP has become the most widely used public charging infrastructure operator in the UK, serving thousands of electric vehicle drivers every day, the British oil giant said on Monday.
The group said it has seen "incredible" growth in the utilisation of its public charging network over the past 12 months, with the number of its users more than doubling, and the amount of energy supplied almost tripling.
Its charging network now includes about 7,000 charging points, the group said in a statement.
BP's charging points operated in the UK currently supply more than 60 MWh of energy per day, equating to around 1.5 million miles of driving by electric cars per week.
These public charging points enable around 300 tonnes of CO2 emissions to be avoided every week, BP noted.
