BP: two quick-to-develop projects in the North Sea

(CercleFinance.com) - BP has committed itself to two new oil fields in the North Sea, which are offshore satellite fields located near to existing infrastructure that can be quickly developed.

Located west of Shetland, the Alligin field, of which BP is an operator with 50%, alongside Shell which has the remaining 50%, is a 20-million-barrel recoverable oil field.

Vorlich, which is 66%-controlled by BP, will recover over 30 million barrels of oil equivalent and is located approximately 241 kilometres east of Aberdeen.

The developments are expected to produce 30,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day at peak, after they begin production in 2020.
