BAE Systems: successful long-range firing of guided shell
(CercleFinance.com) - BAE Systems, in partnership with the US Army announces that it has fired an XM1155-SC guided projectile the farthest a M109 Paladin has ever fired a guided projectile.
The projectile was successfully guided to the target area and hit it using GPS, demonstrating the additional capability the shell can offer to the US Army's current fleet of howitzers.
The test, carried out at Yuma Proving Ground, Arizona, was conducted using a Modular Artillery Loading System (MACS), proving the XM1155-SC's compatibility with current artillery systems.
