BAE Systems: £3.95bn funding for SSN-AUKUS

(CercleFinance.com) - BAE Systems yesterday announced that it has been awarded £3.
95bn in funding by the UK Ministry of Defence for the next phase of the UK's next-generation nuclear-powered attack submarine program, known as SSN-AUKUS.

The SSN-AUKUS is already being billed as the largest, most powerful and most advanced attack submarine ever operated by the Royal Navy, and will eventually replace the Astute class, built by BAE Systems.

Ultimately, Australia and the UK will operate SSN-AUKUS submarines, which will be based on the UK's next-generation design, integrating technology from all three countries, including cutting-edge US submarine technology.

Manufacturing will start towards the end of the decade, with delivery of the first SSN-AUKUS boat in the late 2030s.
