ADP: tests a freight transport solution

(CercleFinance.com) - The ADP Group and Air France KLM Martinair Cargo are testing an innovative airside cargo transport solution at Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport, using autonomous electric vehicles from the French startup OROK.

"Equipped with a state-of-the-art GPS system and numerous sensors enabling it to access loading and unloading areas close to the aircraft, these autonomous vehicles are supervised by a server with artificial intelligence," ADP said.

Capable of transporting between 30 and 40 suitcases, luggage containers or pallets loaded with goods, these new vehicles are intended to replace the tractors and trailers that usually circulate between freight warehouses or baggage sorting centres and aircraft parking stands.

"These autonomous electric vehicles offer several assets: decrease of accidents on the runway, faster delivery for goods or luggage, reduction of surface requirements for maneuvering..."it added.
