EDF: launches construction of wind farm in Scotland
(CercleFinance.com) - EDF announces the launch of the Neart na Gaoithe (NnG) Scottish offshore wind farm, along with its new partnership with the Irish electricity company ESB, which is taking a 50% stake in the project.
This future 450 MW offshore wind farm is part of EDF's offshore wind development strategy and reinforces its position in the production of low-carbon energy production in the UK, where it has a strong presence in nuclear and renewable energy.
Comprised of 54 turbines, Neart na Gaoithe will generate the equivalent energy to power over 375,000 homes, or 4% of Scotland's electricity consumption. Offshore construction will start in June 2020 and full commissioning will be complete in 2023.
