EDF: update on Flamanville EPR

(CercleFinance.com) - EDF this morning relayed a statement from the President of the Nuclear Safety Authority (ASN) of 29 January in which the French nuclear regulator will decide, next May, on the welding of the main secondary circuit of the Flamanville EPR.

“If it turns out that the eight welds in the reactor containment building structure also need replacing then it will no longer be possible to meet the deadline,” said Bernard Doroszczuk, quoted by EDF.

Consequently, the electro-nuclear power group will give a precise progress report on the Flamanville EPR, including its schedule and cost, after the ASN has given its opinion.

For the moment, EDF still plans to load the fuel into the EPR in Q4 2019.
