Alstom: demonstrating Coradia iLint in Saudi Arabia
(CercleFinance.com) - Alstom announces that Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) will demonstrate and operate the world's first hydrogen-powered passenger train, the Coradia iLint, in Riyadh in October, marking the very first introduction of a hydrogen-powered train in the Middle East and Africa.
The planned demonstration follows the MoU signed by SAR and the French transport equipment supplier in September 2022 to develop or adapt hydrogen-based solutions to Saudi Arabia's needs.
Alstom's Coradia iLint, a state-of-the-art hydrogen-powered passenger train, will make an unprecedented journey, covering a distance of 10 to 20 kilometres on line 1 or line 2 of Riyadh's eastern network.
