Alstom: TGV M passes a new stage

(CercleFinance.com) - SNCF management has presented the TGV line of the future at Alstom's workshops in La Rochelle.

The TGV M, which has benefited from the Alstom's top experts' expertise and SNCF Voyageurs' Materiel and TGV-Intercités departments, will run on the national network in 2024.

An order has been placed for 115 units, with 100 domestic and 15 international trainsets - the train also features major innovations, including unprecedented modularity, which enables the number of carriages to be adjusted as closely as possible to market demand; a surface area on board increased by 20%, i.e. a possible offer of up to 740 seats compared with a maximum of 634 today; ultra-competitive energy efficiency and carbon footprint per passenger; access to evolving connected services that meet the needs of passengers; a highly "communicating" train set whose sensors let the train be examined in real time to optimise maintenance and availability and increased accessibility on board, for the benefit of all passengers.

A detailed analysis of the compatibility of the TGV M with the network and stations is being carried out throughout France and maintenance work has already begun.

Investments of almost 50 million euros have been made in new production lines.

Alstom shares are speeding ahead of the CAC this afternoon - up over 2.5%, i.e. double the general index in Paris.
