Engie: D-Day for Isabelle Kocher?

(CercleFinance.com) - The decision regarding the departure of Isabelle Kocher should be taken today at Engie's board meeting.

Her term of office at Engie's helm is unlikely to be renewed.

A hot topic amongst brokers today, Aurel BCG said this morning that the group's governance, which has been failing for too long, can no longer remain as it stands. However, it is yet to be seen what a change in general management implies for Engie's strategy, .

The State appears to have decided to replace Isabelle Kocher, although her departure would have to await Engie's next AGM in May 2020, Les Echos reports.

Meanwhile, analysts at Invest Securities say that the state would not want to give credit to the scenario of dismantling the former GDF Suez through the sale of gas infrastructure (GDRF, GRTgaz).

The authorities also want to convince employees that there are no plans to dismantle the group, Aurel BGC points out. They would like to give the board time to find a suitable successor.

Unlike general management, the board would like to split the gas infrastructure of the former GDF in order to simplify the group, similar to its European peers. This would potentially raise the share price, which has been pretty subdued.
