Orpéa: H1 revenued up but heavy loss

(CercleFinance.com) - Orpea has published H1 sales of 2295 million euros up 10.
9%, including +6.4% in organic terms, y-o-y.

At the same time, EBITDA fell by 16.9% to 415 million euros, and underlying operating income dropped by 64.6% to 82 million euros.

The group posted a net loss of 269 million euros, a far cry from the profit of 102 million euros recorded twelve months earlier.

Business was characterised by good overall momentum in clinics both in France and internationally, and in retirement homes outside France, Orpéa said, which nevertheless points out that in France, the retirement home business was affected by the crisis context that is hitting the company (occupancy rate down by 5 points between January and April 2022, followed by a gradual recovery).

In terms of outlook, Orpéa believes that the downward trend in the financial performance of the business observed in H1 2022 could be amplified in H2, due to the additional volatility observed in energy prices.
