Renault: electric vans with Volvo
(CercleFinance.com) - Renault and Volvo are to form a joint venture dedicated to the development of an entirely new generation of electric vans.
CMA CGM will also join the new company. Renault and Volvo will also continue to seek other investors and partners.
This new all-electric Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) range will be launched by the new company. Production is set to start in 2026.
The vehicles will be produced on a new all-electric, skateboard-style light commercial vehicle platform, enabling different body modules to be adapted at low cost.
The new Software-Defined Vehicle electronic architecture will enable the vehicle to integrate unprecedented functionalities to supervise delivery activities and users' commercial performance, thus reducing the overall cost of use by 30% for logistics players.
