Thales: signed two contracts with ESA
(CercleFinance.com) - Thales Alenia Space has signed two contracts with the European Space Agency (ESA) for the supply of a first batch of six smallsats equipped with synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and an optical satellite.
These satellites will be part of the future Italian IRIDE Earth observation constellation. It will offer a range from microwave radar imaging to optical sensors, providing different spatial resolutions and operating in different frequency bands.
The six SAR satellite contract is worth E112m, plus an option of E75m for four additional satellites.
Meanwhile, the contract for the optical satellite is worth E30m, with an option of E19m for an additional satellite.
